Gynaecomastia as the result of a hormone disorder
Competent treatment at the hormone & metabolism centre in Mainz
Male breasts are not to be confused with male breast cancer. These are two different diseases. Gynaecomastia does not degenerate. It occurs due to the stimulation of the normal mammary gland tissue through oestrogens. Often, it is simply congenital and must be surgically removed.
If an underlying hormone disorder is discovered, it can be treated and the male breasts disappear. Occasionally, this is also induced in older males due to drugs such as spironolactone, for example.
